In an effort to engage with the community and showcase advances in law enforcement technology, Rancho Cordova Police Department’s POP Officer Gordon recently held a “show and tell” session. This event catered to young members of the local community, putting the spotlight on the department’s deployment of drones—or Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)—in their operations. A social media post from the RCPD detailed Officer Gordon’s presentation and the role of drones in enhancing public safety.
Officer Gordon, part of the SSO SCOUT Team, is one of several FAA-certified UAS pilots. According to the department, SCOUT team members are strategically positioned across all SSO Divisions and Rancho Cordova. They are prepared to respond promptly to incidents within the city limits and throughout Sacramento County when their skills are required.
