South Sacramento Festival celebrates unity and diversity

The festival displayed the cultural and economic impact of bringing people together. The free, family-friendly event hosted vendors and featured cultural performances to represent the diverse cultures of South Sacramento, according to Vang.

“[The festival] brings communities together and connects families with important resources and services,” Samantha Lysaythong, Festival organizer and Director of Strategic Engagement, said.

A headline show by the musical band “Fast Times” was also included in the event, as well as including businesses for attendees to look into. Health screenings from Valley High School Health TECH Academy and the Hmong Nurses Association, complimentary haircuts by MIXED Institute of Cosmetology and Barber, youth activities provided by CHAMPS for Life, E-bike test rides from the Sacramento Area Bike Advocates, Vang said.
