Sacramento deputies escort daughter of fallen officer on first day of kindergarten

(FOX40.COM) — A kindergartener whose father died in the line of duty was honored and escorted by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office on her first day of school this week. • Video Above: What happens when you call 911?

In January 2021, SCSO deputy Adam Gibson gave his life in the line of duty. According to the sheriff’s office, he was a K9 handler and a highly respected member of the team.

“His loss was deeply felt throughout the department,” SCSO said. “He left behind his wife and young daughter, Sophie.”

SCSO added, “Today (Monday), Sophie reached a big milestone, her first day of kindergarten. To make sure she didn’t take that step alone, members of the Sheriff’s K9 unit were there to walk her in, cheer her on, and remind her she’ll always be part of their family. Even K9 Niko stopped by to say hello and wish her luck on her first day of school.”…
