We can stop Sacramento’s war on Veterans and their families

When you raise your right hand and swear an oath to serve, there’s an unspoken promise you count on, that your government will take care of you. Not just while you’re in uniform, but long after you come home as a civilian. For many of us, that promise is the only reassurance we have when we put our lives on the line. Yet here in California, I’ve watched that promise erode. Bad policy decisions from Sacramento are crippling our state, and SB-41 is the latest example. Instead of protecting veterans, it threatens to strip away the very lifelines we depend on for affordable, reliable health care.

I served my country in uniform, and I’ve spent years since then helping fellow veterans navigate the complex world of health care. One thing I’ve learned: when the system works, it saves lives. When it doesn’t, it can cost them.

There is a certain narrative being spun around SB-41 that it’s a drug price fix, but I’m here to tell you that could not be further from the truth. That’s why I am deeply alarmed by California Senate Bill 41. Pitched as “reform,” SB-41 is anything but. In reality, it strips away one of the few protections veterans and their families have left when it comes to affordable medicine…
