Serial car thief caught in Mendocino County sentenced to four years in prison

UKIAH, CA., 9/20/25 – A Rancho Cordova man with a history of auto theft has been sentenced to four years in state prison, the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.

Peng Yang, 46, had four prior felony convictions for auto theft before he was arrested near Piercy, an unincorporated community in northern Mendocino County, in what became his fifth conviction.

Prosecutors said Yang stole a Toyota Camry in July from a Sacramento driveway. California Highway Patrol officers later stopped him driving the vehicle just north of Piercy…
