Sacramento Jury Convicts Oybek Khamidkhodjaev on Multiple Charges for 2022 Drive-By Shootings

A jury has found Oybek Khamidkhodjaev guilty on multiple charges related to a series of violent drive-by shootings. The convictions include attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, among others, as reported by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

The incident that led to Khamidkhodjaev’s arrest occurred on January 26, 2022, when a family became victims of his reckless violence. According to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, a mother and her two teenagers were traveling along Watt Avenue when their car was met with gunfire from a matching pace Subaru. The shooting resulted in a teenage daughter suffering catastrophic injuries that left her quadriplegic.

Investigative work, which included combing through surveillance footage, connected the Subaru to Khamidkhodjaev. This was not his first violent act; evidence showed he had previously fired a gun into another occupied vehicle in November 2021.
