Northern California Weather: Cooler, Wetter Weather Expected Oct. 11–17

Sacramento, CA – Northern California is expected to see a cooler and wetter shift in the weather from October 11–17, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s 8–14 Day Outlook released October 3.

Forecasters say a series of Pacific systems will begin tracking inland next week, bringing increased rainfall to coastal and valley regions and the potential for early snow across the Sierra Nevada. The NOAA outlook shows a 60–70% probability of above-normal precipitation stretching from Redding and Chico through the Bay Area and into the Sierra foothills.

Temperatures are forecast to trend below normal, with daytime highs mainly in the 60s and low 70s and cooler overnight lows in the 40s. Rainfall totals could vary widely, but forecasters expect steady showers and occasional downpours, especially along the coast and western slopes…
