Heavy snow batters California this week causing widespread evacuations

Winter weather is sweeping the state of California, with freezing temperatures, icy roads, and heavy snow set to affect Northern and Southern California this week.

An early-season storm will continue to impact the Golden State, severely threatening Southern California. Intense storms remain possible in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Santa Barbara.

Forecasters predict that the main threat will be damaging wind gusts, while an isolated, brief tornado and hail could also hit the region. The heavy rain could also lead to flooding, especially near burn scars. While California’s coast is hit by rain, heavy snow will be piling up in the Sierra mountain ranges.
