Sacramento Jury Convicts Man of Attempted Murder of Parents and Animal Cruelty in Local Attack

On October 30, 2025, a jury in Sacramento found Hamdi Bazyan guilty of two counts of attempted murder, animal cruelty, false imprisonment, false imprisonment of an elder, and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Deputy District Attorney Alexandra James prosecuted the case. The charges included causing great bodily injury and using a knife.

The incident occurred on December 26, 2021. Bazyan attacked his parents and the family cat. He forced his parents into a bedroom, assaulted them, stabbed the cat nine times, and then stabbed both parents. His mother escaped and called for help.
