Two Men Found Guilty of New Year’s Day Murder at Sacramento Ramada Inn, Face Up to 50 Years to Life

On the heels of a jury verdict, two men, Darquan Jackson and Alizey Whitfield, have been found guilty of first-degree murder and assault with a semi-automatic firearm. Whitfield also received a conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The convictions link back to a fatal shooting at a Ramada Inn on New Year’s Day in 2020. According to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, the jury further affirmed the true use of a firearm enhancement for both parties involved.

The incident, which resulted in the death of Hubert Calimee, is believed to have gang affiliations. Following the deadly encounter, the suspects reportedly fled to a getaway vehicle operated by Robert Massingale. Massingale has since pled guilty to related charges and is currently serving a 16-year term in state prison.
