Tragedy unfolded on a Sacramento street yesterday afternoon when a five-year-old boy and four adults sustained injuries following a collision involving an SUV and a sedan. According to ABC10, the crash occurred just south of Marconi Avenue when an SUV was broadsided while attempting to merge onto southbound Fulton Avenue. The California Highway Patrol noted that the accident happened as the sedan, traveling at 40 mph in the No. 1 lane, collided with the SUV.
It was reported that none of the individuals involved in the accident had been wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. This oversight possibly contributed to the extent of injuries suffered by the occupants of the vehicles. The woman driving the SUV and the young boy, who was a passenger in the sedan, were among those taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
