According to updates posted by CHP South Lake Tahoe, the incident initially shut down the roadway completely, but crews have since reopened the route under controlled, alternating traffic flow.
Where the Crash Occurred
The crash happened just east of Camp Sacramento, a well-known recreation site situated between Twin Bridges and Phillips along U.S. 50. This section of the highway is a heavily traveled corridor for both locals and travelers heading toward the Sierra and the Lake Tahoe region.
