Armed Suspect Holed Up On MLK Boulevard Sparks Heavy South Sacramento Standoff

An armed person may be barricaded inside a South Sacramento apartment after a domestic violence call turned into an hours-long standoff yesterday morning, drawing a major police response to the 6200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Neighbors reported a surge of officers flooding the block as patrol units ringed the building and tactical teams rolled in, turning the normally quiet stretch of MLK Boulevard into an active police operation.

What police say

According to FOX40, Sacramento Police Department officers were first called out around 11:30 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic violence incident in the 6200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Once on scene, officers said they believed the suspect to be armed and potentially barricaded inside an apartment. Police told FOX40 they had the location surrounded and were in communication with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team to assist at the scene.
