3 arrested, accused of copper wire theft just outside Roseville

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Three people were arrested Sunday on suspicion of stealing copper wire just outside Roseville, deputies said.

Carissa Avila, 36; Martin Barron Acosta, 44; and Rigoberto Velasquez, 32, allegedly used power tools to steal copper wire in a new development near Bluebell Lane and Royal Lily Avenue, according to a news release from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Callers notified law enforcement upon hearing the sound of power tools and seeing what appeared to be people cutting wire, deputies said. A white BMW was reportedly parked nearby…
