Armed Suspect in Domestic Violence Case Shoots Himself After Hours-Long SWAT Standoff in South Sacramento

SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA — A tense overnight standoff in South Sacramento ended when an armed suspect involved in a domestic violence incident took his own life after barricading himself for several hours inside a mobile home park, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Confrontation Begins After Domestic Violence Call

Authorities say the incident began late Sunday when deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 44th Avenue. Upon arrival, the suspect — whose name has not yet been released — allegedly fired at least one shot toward responding deputies before fleeing the scene.

Sheriff’s officials confirmed that no deputies were injured, and officers on the scene did not return fire during the exchange.

“A suspect fleeing from a domestic violence call fired at one of our deputies near Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard and 44th Avenue,” the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office stated. “The deputy was not struck or injured and did not return fire.”
