Folsom police release details in mail theft investigation, arrests

FOLSOM — Folsom police on Monday released details of an arrest and investigation stemming from a mail theft case that occurred last week in a residential neighborhood, according to information provided by the Folsom Police Department.

Police said an officer was on patrol around 3 a.m. on Dec. 16 when a vehicle previously associated with mail theft activity was located near a cluster mailbox in the area of Avalanche Way and Snowy Peak Court. After observing that the vehicle had expired registration, the officer conducted a traffic stop.

During the investigation, the officer observed open alcohol containers and mail that did not belong to the occupants in plain view inside the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered additional stolen mail, skeleton keys commonly used to access community mailboxes, and drug paraphernalia, police said…
