A Folsom movie theater was evacuated Sunday evening after a false report of a gunshot prompted panic among patrons, but police later confirmed there was no threat and no weapon involved.
The Folsom Police Department said it received multiple 911 calls around 6:45 p.m. from the Cinemark theater on the 200 block of Iron Point Road near Folsom Boulevard. One caller believed they heard a gunshot during an argument between two patrons, while others reported crowds running from the theater after a person had left a backpack in the lobby before running away.
