Man detained after armed standoff in Orangevale, Sacramento sheriff says

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies closed part of Hazel Avenue in Orangevale on Thursday afternoon as they responded to a standoff involving an armed man barricaded inside a home.

Deputies said the incident began shortly after noon on the 8800 block of Dixon Oaks Lane, just west of the Orangevale Community Center. The man, identified as an adult stepson of the homeowners, allegedly fired shots into the air after being denied entry to the residence, then broke in and locked himself inside. Deputies did not believe anyone else was inside the home.

The Sheriff’s Office in an update posted to social media shortly after 3 p.m. said the man was detained without further incident. Roadways in the roadway have reopened, authorities said…
