ROSEVILLE, Calif. — A felony complaint filed in Placer County accuses a Roseville mother and her former boyfriend of murder and torture in the death of a seven-year-old girl, alleging the abuse occurred over nearly seven months and also involved the child’s younger sister.
Placer County District Attorney Morgan Gire said the charges stem from an investigation that began in December when Adalynn Malai Savangsky-Khao, 7, was found unresponsive inside a Roseville home and later died at the hospital, according to police. Her sister, Amelia Cali Savangsy-Khao, 5, was also seriously hurt but survived.
“I think as a human being and as a parent, you are horrified,” Gire said.
According to the felony complaint, prosecutors allege that between June 1 and Dec. 22, 2025, the defendants, Jessica Savangsy and Retuquel Dupree, unlawfully and with malice aforethought murdered the 7-year-old.
