Yolo County Cracks Down on Illegal Tobacco and Cannabis Sales in Davis, The Hut and Havana Mini Mart Issued Citations

In a demonstrated effort to tamp down on illegal tobacco and cannabis sales, Yolo County’s Health and Human Services Agency paired up with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration for a string of November inspections, spiraling into some serious clampdowns in Davis. Two shops, The Hut and Havana Mini Mart were caught in the crosshairs, with officers seizing a stash of illicit goods and slapping the proprietors with citations, as reported by the Yolo County.

According to the Yolo County announcement, not even a suspended license could deter The Hut from its rebellious retail antics. CDTFA enforcers discovered not only tobacco but also cannabis products being peddled under the radar, the total estimated booty clocking in at an eye-popping $8,639. True to form, Havana Mini Mart had its own reserves of flavor-infused contraband—both tobacco and vape products valued at around $8,523.

Looping in on the situation, Yolo County Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson remarked, “These inspections are part of our ongoing commitment to protect the health of Yolo County residents, especially our youth.” She pointed out that these efforts are a concrete means to enforce laws banning the sale of tobacco to minors and to yank prohibited products like flavored tobacco from the clutches of the community…
