Sacramento district probes misconduct allegations against top business official

The financially troubled Sacramento City Unified School District is investigating a high-ranking business official following allegations of misconduct brought by multiple whistleblowers, the Sacramento Bee reported.

The whistleblowers allege that Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Cindy Tao engaged in several unscrupulous practices, including presenting incomplete budgetary information to the district board, hiring outside consultants to perform duties in her job description, and hiring or promoting friends in roles they are unqualified to perform, the newspaper reported.

Tao told The Bee that the allegations are “absolutely false” and called them “defamation.”…
