Investigation underway in Sacramento after anti-ICE protestors vandalize federal building, police say

Around 5 p.m. on Monday, protests erupted in Sacramento after a 37-year-old Minnesota woman was fatally shot by ICE during an enforcement operation. Video footage from the incident shows the woman, Renee Good, blocking a roadway with her vehicle. ICE officers are seen walking up to Good’s vehicle and ordering her to stop and exit the vehicle. Instead, Good reverses the vehicle, then drives forward while surrounded by ICE officers.

Subsequently, she was shot at several times and died. Controversy stems from whether or not ICE was acting in self-defense to avoid being run over, or if this was an unnecessary case of police brutality.

Some Sacramento community members filled the streets with feelings of anger and sadness. Protests lasted several hours, until nearly 11 p.m. Protestors chanted and even burned American flags as an act of defiance. Additionally, police said a federal building was vandalized…
