A deadly Friday morning commute on Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento County left a pedestrian dead and investigators asking whether a second driver may have bolted from the scene. The collision happened just before 7 a.m. near Tiber Way. Authorities say an eastbound vehicle struck a person, who was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver who initially hit the pedestrian stopped and stayed at the scene, but officers are now working to determine whether a second vehicle also struck the victim and drove off. What the California Highway Patrol says
The California Highway Patrol told CBS Sacramento that the crash occurred when an eastbound driver hit a person near Tiber Way just before 7 a.m. According to the agency, the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when they were struck. The initial driver stopped and remained at the scene, and the pedestrian was transported to a hospital, where they later died.
Investigators are still sorting through witness statements and physical evidence to piece together the sequence of events.
