What started as a pre-dawn call about a man with a knife on the 600 block of Santiago Avenue in Sacramento escalated into a trailer fire and a tense standoff early Tuesday, ending only after officers moved in with less-lethal tactics and took the man into custody.
Pre-dawn call turns into fiery standoff
Officers were dispatched just after 4:15 a.m. on reports of a man armed with a knife, according to the Sacramento Police Department, as reported by FOX40. Police told the outlet the man set a trailer on fire and at one point held a knife to his own neck, prompting officers to lock down the area with a perimeter and bring in less-lethal equipment during negotiations.
