Parents speak out after Catholic Diocese of Sacramento announces plans to close two South Sacramento schools

(FOX40.COM) —  The Diocese of Sacramento says St. Charles Borromeo School and St. Patrick Academy will close at the end of this school year.

Students from those campuses will transition to St. Robert School, which will become a new regional Catholic school serving South Sacramento.

In a statement to FOX40, the diocese said Bishop Jaime Soto made the decision after what it described as “prayerful discernment” with the Sacramento Board of Catholic Schools and the pastors of St. Charles Borromeo School, St. Patrick Academy, and St. Robert School.

The diocese says the move is rooted in the mission of Catholic education to help children grow in faith, wisdom, and character while also addressing challenges many schools face today, including declining enrollment and rising operational costs…
