A morning drive along the Sacramento River turned tragic Friday when a car shot off a levee road near Walnut Grove and into the water, leaving a woman dead, authorities said.
Crash Details And Aftermath
The California Highway Patrol’s South Sacramento office said the single-vehicle crash happened around 7:36 a.m. on Twin Cities Road. According to investigators, the driver did not stop at a stop sign and continued through the intersection, sending the vehicle over a steep embankment and into the Sacramento River.
A woman inside the car was ejected and landed in the water. Emergency crews later recovered her body from the river. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release her identity after relatives are notified, according to The Sacramento Bee.
