Last Saturday, a person was killed after being struck by a train near McKinley Boulevard and C Street in Sacramento. Emergency crews responded around 5 p.m., but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity as the investigation continues.

Union Pacific told FOX40 that the person was trespassing on the railroad right-of-way when they were hit and killed by a passing train. The railroad said the train crew saw the collision as it happened and reported that no one aboard the train was injured. Union Pacific added that support is being offered to the crew while investigators work to piece together what happened.
