Sacramento’s downtown office scene could be in for a serious shakeup as county supervisors get ready to weigh a major lease that would relocate the District Attorney’s headquarters to Park Tower. The proposed 15-year deal would give the DA more than 120,000 square feet in the 25-story high-rise, a footprint large enough to move the needle in the central city’s office market. Supervisors are set to take up the agreement at their board meeting this coming Tuesday.
According to reporting by the Sacramento Business Journal, county leaders are considering a 15-year lease for more than 120,000 square feet at Park Tower, identified as 980 Ninth Street. The Business Journal notes that supervisors “will vote Tuesday” on the proposal and characterizes the deal as one of the region’s largest office leases so far this year.
The County Board of Supervisors meets in the County Administration Center at 700 H Street, where agendas, board packets and meeting webcasts are posted for public review. The county’s Board of Supervisors page explains that the board typically meets on various Tuesdays and Wednesdays and offers live streams and archived videos so residents can track the discussions and final votes.
The building and the size of the deal
Park Tower is a Class A, 25-story high-rise at the corner of 9th and J streets, with the property site listing roughly 447,000 square feet of office space and large floor plates designed to handle substantial tenants. The building’s marketing materials tout tenant amenities and LEED certification aimed at institutional occupants. The Sacramento Business Journal has also described the DA’s proposed lease as “in what’s likely to be the biggest office lease of 2026.”
Where the DA is now
The Sacramento County District Attorney currently lists its headquarters at 901 G Street in downtown Sacramento, according to the office’s contact page. A shift into Park Tower would keep the DA in the downtown core while significantly expanding its office footprint. Reporting so far has not laid out the county’s projected costs or a detailed schedule for renovation and move-in work. The DA’s website continues to highlight community programs and public-facing services connected to the G Street address…
