More than 400 Sacramento City Unified employees could be laid off

The Sacramento City Unified School District, facing a $113 million budget deficit, voted behind closed doors on Feb 12 to potentially lay off hundreds of school staff by the end of this school year.

Four of the seven members of the board of education met to discuss and vote on motions to eliminate more than 400 positions, including classified employees (non-certified workers) and vacant positions within the district.
