Three Bay Area residents were seriously injured Monday afternoon after a pickup truck lost control on a snow-covered stretch of Highway 50 near South Lake Tahoe and struck them as they were working on tire chains, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 12:45 p.m. on westbound U.S. 50 east of Johnson Pass, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators said a black Kia sedan pulled into a turnout so the driver could adjust a tire chain on the left front tire. Two bystanders stopped to help. All three men were standing near the front of the Kia when a black Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound lost control on the snowy roadway, NBC News4 reported…
