Driver Taken Into Custody After 80-Mile Pursuit Along Highway 50

RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA — A driver was taken into custody Thursday morning following a high-speed pursuit that began in Rancho Cordova and extended more than 80 miles along Highway 50 into the South Lake Tahoe area, authorities said.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the chase, which temporarily closed a portion of Highway 50 near Meyers.

Traffic Stop Attempt Sparks Early Morning Pursuit

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and Florin Perkins Road in Rancho Cordova.
