A Monday afternoon at Oakdale Elementary in North Highlands took a hard turn when the school went into lockdown after deputies reported a possible shooting at a nearby home, according to school and sheriff’s officials. Staff quickly secured the campus while deputies swept a residential block just south of the school. Authorities did not immediately say whether anyone was hurt or whether any evidence was found, but neighbors described a heavy law-enforcement presence as deputies canvassed the area.
