(FOX40.COM) — Harsher penalties were approved by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday for those who use illegal fireworks and “safe and sane” fireworks unauthorized.
A November 2025 board direction to increase enforcement measures in an effort to protect communities from the dangers associated with illegal fireworks resulted in the ordinance update, officials said.
The previous ordinance was as follows:
- First violation: $1,000
- Second violation: $2,500
- Each additional violation: $5,000
- Violations within the American River Parkway, park or school property: $10,000
The updated ordinance now applies fines for each individual illegal firework used. It also imposes fines for each time unauthorized “safe and sane” fireworks are used outside the permitted times…
