(FOX40.COM) — Several streets in North Sacramento remain closed Friday morning as police investigate a deadly officer-involved shooting.
At this time, the Sacramento Police Department is the only agency that has released information about the incident. SPD said its communications center received an assistance call from CHP a few minutes after midnight. Officers rushed to the scene and tried giving medical aid to the suspect until the Sacramento Fire Department arrived and took over. Shortly after, the suspect was pronounced dead on the scene.
SPD also confirmed that a gun was recovered at the scene. A large perimeter is currently in place including Boxwood Street, El Camino Avenue, and Erickson Street with some minor impacts to traffic along Del Paso Boulevard.
Since the deadly shooting happened within city limits, the SPD Homicide Unit and CSI have taken over the investigation as part of protocol. The shooting remains under investigation…
