Kiki’s Chicken, the Sacramento-born fried chicken chain that ballooned in size after the pandemic, is popping back up under a fresh name. On Sunday morning, a Good Day Sacramento segment showed the first location now operating as KiKai’s Chicken & More, complete with new signage and branding.

The station aired the piece on March 29 and described the business as “a well-known Sacramento restaurant chain that is opening its first location under a new brand,” according to CBS News. Viewers got quick looks at the storefront and a few menu items under the updated KiKai’s name.

The pivot follows an August announcement that several Kiki’s locations would close and reemerge as independent operators, per KCRA. That earlier coverage noted the company intended to keep roughly 15 brick-and-mortar restaurants and eight food trucks while affected sites underwent new branding.
