Natomas Desi Market To ‘Level Up’ With Next-Door Sit-Down Spot

Natomas’ Desi Market & Grill is getting a serious glow-up. Owner Shahram Theekri is preparing to open a full-service, sit-down restaurant in the space immediately next door at the Truxel Station shopping center at 2087 Arena Boulevard. The new spot is being framed as a place for family gatherings and celebrations, but the business’ official name, full menu and opening date have not yet been announced.

The expansion buzz first surfaced in the Sacramento Indians Facebook group and was then reported by What Now Sacramento. The outlet notes that Desi Market & Grill, which opened in 2024, has already become a neighborhood staple for halal meats, Pakistani mangoes and spices. In a widely shared post, Raj Karthikeyan cheered, “This place is about to LEVEL UP in a big way!,” with the report adding that the sit-down space is expected to be a natural fit for birthday parties and family celebrations. What Now Sacramento also reports it has reached out to Theekri for comment and that the official name and opening timetable remain TBA.

Right now, Desi Market & Grill operates as a combination grocery and fast-casual kitchen, serving items like shawarma, papri chaat, Zinger burgers and paratha rolls, according to its DoorDash menu. DoorDash reviews call out the Zinger burger and the market’s halal offerings for particular praise.

Restaurant Guru lists Desi Market & Grill at 2087 Arena Blvd #120, and the Natomas Chamber of Commerce directory also shows the business at that same Arena Boulevard address inside the Truxel Station complex.

Theekri’s next-door expansion tracks with a broader wave of South Asian and “desi” concepts leveling up across the Sacramento region, as grocers and fast-casual counters test the waters with full sit-down dining rooms.
