By Sara Beth Williams– — The San Juan Unified School district has honored local elementary school lead custodian Mikalai Lutsyk as one of the district’s 2026 Classified Employees of the Year, an honor recognizing staff members who play a vital role in supporting student success.
Lutsyk, who has served in his role at Grand Oaks Elementary for seven years, is widely known across campus for his strong work ethic, professionalism and genuine care for the school community. Colleagues say he approaches each day with efficiency, a positive attitude and a quiet sense of humor, even when faced with unexpected challenges.
“He chooses to work at most of our events beyond school hours, and it is so wonderful to have a familiar face for our community,” his nominator wrote. “He exemplifies professionalism and excellence and is an ideal model for custodial work performance.”…
