Autistic woman rescued after jumping from car off Folsom’s Rainbow Bridge

An urgent water rescue unfolded Tuesday afternoon on Lake Natoma after reports that an 18-year-old woman jumped from a moving vehicle on the Rainbow Bridge into the water below, prompting a rapid, multi-agency emergency response along one of the region’s busiest recreational waterways.

The woman reportedly suffers from autism and exited the moving vehicle before entering the water, triggering emergency calls and an immediate response from first responders. Units from the Folsom Fire Department and California State Parks were dispatched to the scene, along with multiple medic units, engine companies and command staff as the situation quickly escalated into a coordinated water rescue.

A command post was established at Black Miners Bar, commonly referred to as Rock Beach, where crews coordinated rescue efforts and staged incoming resources.
