(KRON) — A man as hit by a car and killed after he allegedly started chasing his Lyft driver around on eastbound I-80 while verbally assaulting him.
Saturday around 1:15 a.m., the Solano California Highway Patrol received a call from a Lyft driver parked on the shoulder of eastbound I-80. The driver, a Middle Eastern man in his 30s from Sacramento, told officers that his passenger, a 50-year-old black man from Vallejo, began verbally and physically assaulting him. The driver then pulled over on the right shoulder of the highway near Tennessee Street and got out of his car to escape the passenger. The passenger then allegedly got out of the car as well and began chasing the driver east down the shoulder towards Redwood Parkway.
A few minutes later around 1:19 a.m., the passenger was hit by a black Audi sedan while in the lane three. The driver of the Audi, an Asian woman in her 20s from Vallejo, told officers she did not see the passenger until it was too late. The Lyft driver said he only heard the crash…
