ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Last year’s May 16 tornado exposed a growing problem for people who own older homes. Owners say it can be a challenge to purchase homeowner’s insurance amid rising premiums and a higher risk for damage.
The result is that the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance reports 73% of homes damaged in the tornado were not insured.
