St. Louis man pleads guilty in 2025 attack on corrections officer, 9 other cases

A St. Louis man has admitted to an attack that left a corrections officer at the City Justice Center unconscious.

Damorieon Simms pleaded guilty Friday to robbery and kidnapping for the November 2025 beating of Jerome Dunning.

Dunning was delivering meals when Simms, then 23, got out of his cell after the door “inadvertently opened” and attacked the officer, according to court documents. Simms then took Dunning’s radio and prevented him from leaving the room…
