St. Louis man admits role in crypto kidnap plot

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man appeared in federal court Monday to plead guilty to his role in a violent, high-stakes cryptocurrency scheme.

Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut said 22-year-old Saif Faiq, 22, admitted helping plan an attempted robbery targeting Bitcoin, along with a kidnapping in Danbury, Connecticut, in August 2024.
