A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the St. Louis metro area.
The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has noted that a line of thunderstorms is expected to move through this evening, bringing chances of severe weather to the area, with wind gusts being the primary concern.
The watch is effective Thursday afternoon and evening from 2:45 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. CDT.
“Thunderstorms will continue to increase in coverage and intensity along/ahead of a cold front this afternoon and evening,” the Storm Prediction Center said. “The strongest convection may become supercellular and pose a threat for large to very large hail, and perhaps a tornado or two. Otherwise, scattered severe/damaging winds appear likely as thunderstorms grow upscale into one or more bowing clusters through the evening.”…
