MADISON, Ill. – A fast-moving fire in Madison, Ill., on Tuesday morning destroyed one home and significantly damaged neighboring residences. 10-year-old Eder Escobar Vasquez alerted his neighbor, David Wood, to the blaze which authorities say originated in a vacant, condemned home around 9 a.m.
The fire quickly escalated, sending giant flames and thick black smoke into the sky above the Madison neighborhood. No serious injuries were reported despite the extensive property damage.
Wood, a homeowner affected by the fire, said he had fallen asleep in his living room when someone began pounding on his door. He was told he needed to get out of the house because it was on fire…
