Police Board gets an earful from St. Louis residents

The state-appointed Board of Police Commissioners invited the public to attend its Wednesday meeting to share their thoughts. The people who showed up were all of one mind. They didn’t particularly like the board.

John Parker, owner of O’Connell’s Pub in South City, was one of the first speakers, saying that he’s advocated for police officers making more money for a long time. “What’s not logical is how this is happening,” he said. He compared the board to a kid who wants to open his Christmas presents on December 20. “It’s not that you’re wrong—it’s how you’re doing it.”

He was one of many speakers to note that Mayor Cara Spencer is the only board member to have been elected, yet she has been the one getting bullied…
