St. Louis Zoo sends Bakari the gorilla to Florida to start a family

After spending the past 15 years at the St. Louis Zoo, Bakari the gorilla is heading to Florida for an important new role: starting a family of his own.

The 21-year-old western lowland gorilla recently moved to a zoo in central Florida, where he will take part in a conservation breeding program that helps maintain a healthy and genetically diverse population of gorillas in accredited zoos across North America.
