Mother shares grief after 7-month-old’s murder

ST. LOUIS – For the first time since the shooting death of 7-month-old Kiyomi Parker, the baby’s mother is speaking about the family’s grief and the legal case surrounding the child’s death.

On Monday, Kiyomi Parker’s father, 19-year-old Ca’Marion Pawnell, was denied bond on a second-degree murder charge. He is charged in the June 26 shooting of his daughter at a home on North Broadway in north St. Louis, although he is not accused of pulling the trigger.

A probable cause statement said that Pawnell left his gun under a mattress in the home. Kiyomi’s 10-year-old uncle is accused of grabbing the gun and shooting Kiyomi. The uncle, who has since turned 11, is charged with first-degree murder…
