ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Part of a city-owned vacant home collapsed onto a neighboring residence Thursday, prompting a resident of 50 years to begin removing her valuables while she waits for the city to act.
Lisa Conrod said bricks first came through her bedroom and bathroom windows during storms the previous Saturday. The Land Reutilization Authority — the city’s land bank — said it requested an emergency demolition the following day. By Monday, the city condemned the home and ordered the LRA to make it safe within 24 to 48 hours.
When we followed up Wednesday, Conrod said nothing had been done. The LRA said the demolition process could not move forward until a contractor was selected, and the emergency bid was not initiated until Wednesday — despite the structure still leaning…
