UPDATED: Union Pacific’s Big Boy steam locomotive passes through mid-Missouri

UPDATE: This week’s heat wave impacted the train’s tour in Missouri. Last Sunday, the train’s event in St. Louis at the National Museum of Transportation was forced to close early because of extreme temperatures and large crowds.

When the train moved on to Pacific, temperatures soared into the upper 90s, resulting in more than 20 spectators receiving medical evaluations, and three people being sent to the local hospital.

And when the train made a stop Monday in Hermann, first responders dealt with several people fainting or overheating in the direct sun.
