Photos: St. Louisans brave the sweltering heat for a chance to see Big Boy roll through

Aiden Drohr woke up on Monday ready to meet a celebrity. In fact, he was hoping for more than that: He wanted to witness the legendary Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 — the world’s largest operating steam train — in all its glory.

He knew it would take more than one viewing.

“I started bright and early at about 8:30 in the morning in Webster Groves,” said Drohr. “It was pretty neat. They were going uphill, lots of smoke, lots of steam, and then from there I got back on the road.”…
